A bright spot in our sad week was planting things in the yard with Mil, as Truman threw rocks at our veggies and flowers. He also threw quite a fit when I wouldn't turn over the meat mallet (I know, I know) that I was using to hammer garden fencing into the dirt. This year I am very serious, unlike the past three years, about beautifying our yard. I think it'll be a good distraction for the kids and I while Mike is super busy at work these next few months.
I know all Mothers are supposed to say this about their kids, but really, I have the most wonderful kids ever. Milly is a riot, she has a great sense of humor and is such a good big sister for T. Another thing about Mil, and this really makes me proud, she is extremely kind to other people. I always go to MIlly's school a bit early so I can talk with the other Moms, and one of Milly's classmate's Mom was telling me how her little girl felt like all the other kids didn't want to be her friend, and that sometimes she didn't even want to go to school. After Mil got out of class, on the way home, I talked to Milly about this other little girl and I told her it would be really nice if Milly could make an effort to include this little girl during playtime. This was maybe a month or so ago, and ever since Milly has been going out of her way to be nice to this little girl, and even though previously Milly thought the girl was a bit harsh, she actually has grown to truly like her. Lesson learned. And Truman? That small man melts my heart. He has been talking more lately and is absolutely over-the-moon about Thomas the Train. Insane. He's been really into coloring lately too (pictures of Thomas, if you hadn't guessed). He's not quite as compassionate as Milly, he has an odd mating ritual of throwing his trains at little girls he likes at Mil's school. He is an incredible cuddly man though, and it's the cutest when he randomly throws his arms around you for a super-T-hug.
